"HEY, THAT'S ME!
‚Travel and photo junkie' - that actually describes me quite aptly. For as long as I can remember, I have lived by the maxim: VIA EST VITA. For me, the decisive criterion of a journey was and is not the destination, but the way there. Documenting, recording and driving on roads on all continents (except the white, cold one at the bottom) is my great passion.
Over 20 years ago, this path then led into the world of automotive photography. As a location scout for over 100 automotive shoots and productions, many of them in New Zealand, Australia and the USA, I spent more time on roads and hotels than at home. (1000 kisses to my dear wife for your support).
Besides scouting, at some point I added producing shoots, mainly for car photographer and my best mate Stephan Romer, for many years one of the busiest car photographers - especially for Porsche AG.
With the advent of social media channels and the desire for further additional content besides the actual main campaign shots, I started to discover this area photographically. I was interested in the spontaneous, the unplanned, the natural and authentic. Unseen perspectives, stuff in the foreground that you snap through, window reflections… great.
In the process, I also came into contact with film work (I accompanied the 'Porsche Top 5' episodes for a few years, which could be seen mainly on YouTube) and learned to use the limited windows of time during the meticulously timed film shoots for photography.
The film sets of car commercials totally fascinated me and in mid-2020 I started the first attempts with Auro Stagge of HOCHKANTFILM and PORSCHE AG to mount photo cameras alongside the main film camera, which in turn were mounted on the flight head of the U-crane (formerly known as 'Russian Arm').
The first results were very promising, I expanded the system further and since then I have been accompanying various film shoots and generating 'tons' of photos. Love it… ;)

‚Reise- und Foto-Junkie‘ - das beschreibt mich eigentlich ziemlich treffend. So lange ich denken kann lebe ich nach der Maxime: VIA EST VITA. Nicht das Ziel war und ist für mich das entscheidende Kriterium einer Reise, sondern der Weg dorthin. Das Dokumentieren, Festhalten und Befahren von Straßen auf allen Kontinenten (außer dem weißen, kalten, ganz unten) ist meine große Leidenschaft.
Vor über 20 Jahren führte dieser Weg dann in die Welt der Autofotografie. Als Locationscout für über 100 Automobil-Shootings und Produktionen, viele davon in Neuseeland, Australien und USA, verbrachte ich mehr Zeit auf Straßen und Hotels als zu Hause. Neben dem Scouting kam dann irgendwann das Produzieren von Shootings dazu, vor allem für den Auto-Fotografen und meinen besten Kumpel Stephan Romer, über viele Jahre einer der meistbeschäftigten Autofotografen - vor allem für die Porsche AG.
Durch das Aufkommen von Social-Media-Kanälen und dem Wunsch nach weiterem zusätzlichem ‚Content‘ neben den eigentlichen Hauptkampagnen-Motiven, fing ich an diesen Bereich fotografisch zu entdecken. Mich interessierte das Spontane, das Ungeplante, das Natürliche und Authentische. Ungesehene Perspektiven, irgendein Zeug im Vordergrund durch das man durchknipst, Scheibenreflektionen, ... großartig!
Dabei kam ich auch in Berührung mit Filmarbeiten (dort begleitete ich einige Jahre die ‚Porsche Top-5‘ Folgen, die vor allem auf YouTube zu sehen sind) und lernte meine nur sehr knapp vorhandene Zeit als Fotograf während der minutiös getakteten Filmdrehs zu nutzen.
Die Filmsets der Automobilwerbung faszinierten mich total und Mitte 2020 startete ich mit Auro Stagge von HOCHKANTFILM und der PORSCHE AG die ersten Versuche Fotokameras auch auf die Hauptfilmkamera zu montieren, die wiederum im Flight Head des U-cranes befestigt sind (damals noch unter dem Namen ‚Russian Arm‘ bekannt).
Die ersten Resultate waren sehr vielversprechend, das System wird suksessive weiter ausgebaut und seitdem begleite ich diverse Filmdrehs, um ‚Tonnen‘ an Fotos zu generieren. Love it… ;)
